Books and Rhymes Tour: See how Edem and the VRMG team murked Nkwanta and Kpando ahead of Agbozume
The most recent leg of Edem’s Books and Rhymes tour, was somewhat of a home-coming as the VRMG boss, teamed up with Cartel Big J, Gemini and a few indigenous acts, to bring Joy to the people of the Volta Region.
The VRMG team hit Nkwanta first, where the stage was set at the Kilimanjaro Hotel; the show which began around 7pm, with indigenous act, saw many budding patrons climb buses the get a clear view of the showdown.
Gemini hit the stage, thrilling the crowd with songs from his doppest rapper mixtape and his amazing quick-rap skills. The crowd screamed for more, and then Cartel Big J, of the defunct praye group, took the stage. He performed his verses of popular Praye Songs and then, moved on to songs from his solo project.
More patrons could be seen trooping in at this time, and then it was the hour for VRMG boss Edem, to mount the stage. Dressed in a black vest and red sweat pants, Edem took the stage and delivered many songs off his previous albums. The crowd cheered and screamed, as Edem began doing songs from the reigning VGMA, album of the year; Books and Rhymes . There were no low moments within the full one hour performance.
Next stop was Kpando, the team set off around 9am , embarking on the five hour journey from Nkwanta to Kpando. On arrival, Edem and the VRMG crew went into the town, to interact with budding musicians. This gave the acclaimed rapper, a chance to freestyle with the new talent he had stumbled upon.
Back at the hotel, a few town folks paid a visit to Edem, who humbly let them in for a chat. Most remarkably was, Bush Doctor; an artiste who had conquered Kpando and its environs with dancehall, during Edem’s secondary school days. The folks charged Edem to Keep making the name of the Volta Region reach the world.
After the stage was warmed by indigenous acts, Gemini and Cartel Big J, Edem took to the stage to begin his thrilling 1hr30min performance, which was streamed live on the “Gedemites” instagram page. The crowd sang note after note, and screamed out song titles they wanted Edem to perform. The performance, took Edem back to his roots, as he ended up singing his secondary school anthem with the teeming crowd.
The Books and Rhymes Tour, is set to continue, as Edem and his team hit Agbozume this weekend
